Responsibilities:


  • Oversee all aspects of a title from a creative and design standpoint from concept to final deliverable.

  • Guide our development team in all areas of design and lead the creative vision.

  • Work with senior stakeholders to deliver a world class franchise:

  • Set design intentions and priorities for key gameplay features

  • Pitch strong commercial ideas and concepts to Stakeholders and adapt them where necessary

  • Set design-based milestones working within defined project schedule parameters

  • Maintain a clear and consistent design vision at all times

  • Contribute to mid and post-mortems

  • Work to keep the game on the right track and ensure the stability of the creative.

  • Ensure the core game play is strong, fun and challenging as early as possible in the development whilst delivering the design intention at agreed milestones.

  • Working with engineers, designers, artists, producers to iterate new concepts efficiently and effectively to nail core game loops.

  • Ensure the play balance and difficulty curve work well, making sure the game is appropriate for its target audience.

  • Oversee all aspects of a title from a creative and design standpoint including single player, multiplayer, DLC, PDLC, monetization, companion apps, social layer, and franchise extensions as appropriate.

  • Work to keep the game on the right track and ensure the stability of the creative direction of the project at all times.



REQUIREMENTS


  • Must have been a creative lead at a video game developer on at least one critically acclaimed console and PC shooter from start to finish.

  • Will have worked in a senior design role on several AA or AAA quality and / or critical and commercial successes on console or PC.

  • Familiarity with popular design techniques, tools, processes and pipelines for building video games, including prototyping, scripting, and level editing.

  • Experience in Shooter genres

  • Experience of games as a service, including principles to maximize consumer engagement, retention and monetization.

  • Experience in mentoring junior design staff and able to work with co located team members.

  • Ability to articulate ideas, information and know-how with ease and clarity.

  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.

  • A high level of diplomacy whilst being unafraid to be explicitly critical where necessary.

  • Motivated and passionate team player, able to work with a close knit team.

  • Will have a strong competency in tools such as Microsoft Office, Confluence, Jira and Perforce

  • Must understand what makes good games so special, and have the ability to pick games apart, pointing out what works and what doesn’t.

  • Must be able to balance creative and commercial requirements to understand where resources are best spent on a game.

  • Ability to write and convey instructions with clarity.

  • Knowledge of industry best practice.
