My client design and create innovative games for mobile and tablet devices. They are now looking for a prototyping game programmer who will work in a small, cross-discipline team creating engaging new game concepts and prototypes.
In this role, you will constantly analyse the market, keep an eye on trends and styles to identify the next “in” thing.
Working with art and design, you will create rapid prototypes that excite and engage players.
Focussed and flexible, you will be comfortable working under heavy scrutiny to tight time constraints, and at times with little guidance and supervision, seeking out work and problems to solve without prompting.
With a strong understanding of the limitations of the devices, you know how to get the most out of hardware and create tools to empower design and art.
When not working on original prototypes, you will be exploring prototyping for pitches to win new projects with high-profile clients.
Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in researching the market and be aware of current trends and styles.

  • Rapidly create prototypes spanning many genres and audiences, bringing the vision to life.

  • Create rapid prototypes including game logic, 2D/3D physics using Unity / Unreal / Internal engine.

  • Develop prototyping tools to empower art and design.

  • Work closely with art and design to define requirements, restrictions, establish best practices and identify new approaches.

  • Participate in planning and team meetings.

  • Create prototypes and assess technical limitations for pitches to potential and existing clients.

  • Find and resolve issues and/or seek out solutions with an appropriate team member.


  • Candidates will ideally have experience working on PC, console, handheld or mobile gaming platforms.

  • Good degree in computer science or equivalent.

  • Detailed knowledge of development tools, game mechanisms and techniques relating to game development across a wide variety of platforms and genres.

  • Experience of game development using C++.

  • Good understanding of C#, Objective-C, Java and JNI a distinct advantage.

  • Experience of native Windows/MacOS development a distinct advantage.

  • Strong maths and 3D programming skills a distinct advantage.

  • Show an ability to meet tight deadlines and follow direction, technical process and schedules.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, positive attitude and flexibility.

  • Strong, self-motivated work ethic with a hunger for on-going learning and development.

  • A passion for games, ideally social, mobile and online games.

  • Fast, iterative workflow.

  • Experience with agile development processes and source control systems preferred.
